Permanent Nanny and Cat Sitter, 35 hours per week – Edinburgh EH10 6

Job ref: LCSAUG04

An unusual but attractive request for a reliable, animal loving nanny to work a mixture of set and flexible hours Monday to Friday.

Childcare will be for their 10 year old on :

  • Mondays to Thursdays between 8am and 9am then 3pm and 6pm
  • Fridays 8am to 9am and 12 noon to 6pm.

In between these times, the parent needs the successful candidate to be in the family home to cat sit for any three hours between 9am and 3pm Mondays to Thursdays and between 9am and noon on a Friday. This is a great opportunity for someone who perhaps has another job and can work remotely during this time at the family’s home.

During school holidays, the total daily / weekly hours will remain the same but the family will need flexibility in timings to support childcare e.g. 9am to 4pm or 10am to 5pm. There may be the option of additional hours by mutual agreement.

The start date is flexible but must be by the end of September 2024.

Six weeks annual leave allowance is expected to be taken during school holidays and will be mutually agreed well in advance.

The hourly rate is £14-£15 per hour gross depending on experience.

Their child is quiet and well behaved. She struggles with change but settles well once she knows what the routine is and values one on one relationships and does well in them. She has potential neuro diverse indicators on the autism spectrum but it is simply being monitored just now and is mild, but if someone had an interest in this, the parent would value their input and insights as she develops. She has activities after school on Mondays and Wednesdays. One Wednesday activity requires a drive across town to St. George’s School. A driver is therefore required but the family can provide a car.

The ideal candidate will be dependable and sensitive to the child’s needs as outlined above. Someone young and fun would be good, bring a happy energy and build up a great relationship with the family. Mum is starting a high pressure new job and must be confident that her daughter is taken care of 100%.

In addition to their current cat, a kitten will be joining them in October and will need cared for whilst being introduced to the other cat and the household. No extra hours are required but attention will need to be given to this for 3 hours a day.

A non-smoker is required.

There is free parking at the family home.
