Temporary Mother’s Help / Nanny (until December 2024), Dunbar, East Lothian EH42

Job Reference: LCSJUNE01

An expectant family from Dunbar who are looking for support one day a week (either a Wednesday or a Thursday) for 4-6 hours. Mornings preferred with a 9am – 9.30am start.

They have a 3 year old and their second baby due on 21st July. The would ideally like someone to start with them at the end of June or the beginning of July to get to know them and their wee girl. She was born during Covid times therefore can have separation anxiety and be reluctant to leave mum.

Mum is a stay at home mum but Dad works long hours so mum feels that she will need help one of the requested days when her daughter is not at nursery.

The role will be a mixture of mother’s help and nanny. It might be that you will have sole care of their daughter at swimming lessons if it is a Wednesday or sole care of the baby to allow mum to do the lessons. Lots of the time, it will be you and mum together with both children.

They are initially looking for help through to Christmas 2024, but may decide to extend longer term if everyone is happy. They don’t need any help over Christmas and New Year and may even get away with no help during the shorter school holidays but they will definitely need help this summer school holiday when the baby arrives.

It is more important that they get the right person so a later start nearer or just after the baby’s birth may also work.

The ideal candidate will be warm, friendly, have plenty of patience, playful and happy to be outdoors. Must be good with imaginative play as their daughter has a vivid imagination and likes to have pretend tea parties and role play with her soft toys.

The hourly rate is £16 per hour.

Non smoker.
