Job Reference: LCSJUL01
We are recruiting a permanent nanny for a busy and organised family who live in Kilbarchan.
They have two boys ages 10 and 7 years.
Hourly rate: ยฃ17 per hour gross
Start Date: ASAP
Days and Hours: Mondays to Thursdays 8am to 1.30pm (22 hours per weeks/52 weeks per year).
At noon, the nanny will collect their youngest son from school at 12 noon and bring him home for lunch, then return him to school for 1pm.
During the school holidays, care will be for both children during the same working hours. This will include preparing breakfast and lunch and providing appropriate care and activities.
Their oldest son is 10 years and attends school throughout the day. During term time, he will require support with making his breakfast and travelling to school. During school holidays, he will be cared for at home alongside his younger brother and will require breakfast and lunch to be prepared.
Their youngest son who is 7 years, is autistic and non verbal. He attends a specialist school base close to the family home. He comes home for lunch each school day and benefits from familiar routines, calm communication, consistency and clear expectations. It is important that the nanny takes time to understand how he communicates, recognises signs that he may be anxious or overwhelmed, and follows the approaches and routines used by the family and school. Safety is particularly important and he requires close supervision, including when leaving the house, travelling in the car, moving between home and school, toileting, dressing, washing his hands and other personal care as required. He is allergic to dairy and gluten so his nanny will need to carefully follow his dietary requirements when preparing and supervising meals.
During school term, the nanny will need to prepare breakfast, help the boys with their morning routines and take them to school. The boys attend different schools, which are within approximately one mile of each other and are each within approximately five minutes of the family home.
This role involves working in the morning while the boys attend school but so that there is childcare in place should their youngest become overwhelmed and need to return home. This does not happen very often but it is important that someone is available during these hours.
While the boys are in school the parents have suggested that their nanny take time to do other tasks such as: tidying away any toys, washing up and putting away their breakfast dishes, preparing or getting their dinner organised for later in the day, keeping the boys laundry and school uniforms up to date and keeping their rooms clean and tidy. They are also open to other suggestions of additional tasks.
They would like a nanny who has experience working with additional support needs, who is patient, kind and interested in supporting both boys and meeting their individual needs. Someone organised, who can follow established routines for the boys. Reliable, calm but fun and engaging too. First aid or a willingness to work towards.
A driver is essential: the nanny will need to use their own reliable car and have appropriate insurance for work related journeys. There is free parking at the family home.
Parents may sometimes work from home but will be away from the main areas used with the children.
