By law, every employer must provide anyone who’s classed as an employee with the terms of their employment in writing. This document is often referred to as the ‘Employment Contract’. It is a legal relationship between an employer and an employee.

If you are employing a nanny or childcarer in Scotland to look after your children and you want to pay them using either of the above, then you need to register with a Childcare Agency that is registered with the Care Inspectorate. Lothian Childcare Solutions can do this for you.
If you’re an employer you do not have to be registered with Disclosure Scotland to use their disclosure service. You can use another registered company to process your staff disclosures. These other companies are often called ‘umbrella bodies’.
