We are recruiting a summer holiday nanny for a family in Dunbar, East Lothian.

Hourly rate: ยฃ16 per hour plus holiday pay, plus an extra payment to be mutually agreed to cover the inconvenience of being away from home for the first week.

Dates: Monday 13th July to Tuesday 11th August inclusive. The first week ideally will ideally be travelling with the family to a caravan at Seahouses in Northumberland.

Weekly hours: up to 25 per week/ 5 hours per day although they are willing to consider less hours for the right candidate.

When in Northumberland, ideally working 25 hours over 3 days. You will have your own room and all meals will be paid. You will also be paid mileage to and from Seahouses or a train ticket cost. There is also a gym and pool which you can use when off duty.

They have three children who are nearly 12, 9 and 8 years old.

Oldest is is in Y6 at Loretto Junior school. She is a kind child who likes arts and crafts. She โ€˜young for her ageโ€™ and quite โ€˜emotional and needyโ€™ i.e. she likes a lot of attention, for example she is happy to do a craft project but likes an adult to sit with her while she does it.

Middle child is in P5 at Dunbar Primary. She is a straightforward, bright child. She is very sociable and sporty. She is generally very helpful with her younger sibling although she gets frustrated when he damages her stuff. She is registered as a young carer.

Youngest is in in P2 at the Cove which is the specialist communication hub based in Dunbar. He has been diagnosed with global developmental delay. Cognitively he is functioning about 24 months now. He is non-verbal although his understanding is improving, and he has some signs. He is still in nappies. He does walk, although if mum needs to be somewhere quickly or if juggling the other 2 children, shopping etc. he still uses a buggy. He is generally a very happy child but does like to be out and about and can get frustrated in the house, for example he likes going down to the station to watch the trains, or going to the park.

They are looking for someone who has an authoritative parenting style which Mum tries to use herself i.e. warm but firm. Patience, humour and kindness are essential.

The parents would like to find someone who is happy to work closely with her as a team. Sometimes working together with all 3 children either at home or out on an excursion, e.g. the beach or a park, sometimes one will take the youngest and the other will do something with the older children (e.g. take the youngest round to the station while the girls are doing a craft project or playing quietly in the house). Someone who is happy to lend a hand with some basic tidying, clearing and cooking simple meals would be really helpful. They have a cleaner so there is no expectation to do any heavy household cleaning, but clearing the breakfast things away wiping down counters and kitchen table, sweeping kitchen floor, hanging out some washing preparing some lunch or a preparing a simple evening meal (along the lines of spaghetti bolognaise etc).

Non smoker is essential.

A driver would be great although the family car can be used for occasional use. There is free parking at the family home.
