Job Reference: LCSFEB02
This busy family from Dunbar, East Lothian are looking for a nanny /mother’s help to support them with their three children ages 10, 8 and 6 years during the Easter and summer school holidays 2025.
The dates are:
Mon 7th April to Mon 21st April 2025 and Fri 27th June – Tues 12th August 2025.
The hours are up to 40 per week, Monday to Friday although happy to discuss less hours per week for the right candidate.
There is the opportunity for the successful candidate to live in with the family while working. They would have their own bedroom and bathroom.
The hourly rate is £15 per hour gross, but happy to increase for the right candidate.
Their oldest is in is in fifth year and is a kind child who likes arts and crafts. She ‘young for her age’ and quite ‘emotional and needy’ i.e. she likes a lot of attention, for example she is happy to do a craft project but likes mum to sit with her while she does it. She has undergone a CAMHS assessment to look at a possible diagnosis of Autism and ADHD but sadly the family have been told she does not meet the criteria for either.
Their middle child is in P4 and is a straightforward, bright child. She does swimming lessons, Brownies and piano lessons. She is generally very helpful with her younger brother although can get frustrated when he damages her stuff. She is a registered young carer.
Their youngest is in P1 at the Cove which is the specialist communication hub based in Dunbar. He has been diagnosed with global developmental delay. Cognitively he is functioning about 24 months now. He is non-verbal although his understanding is improving, and he has some signs. He is still in nappies. He does walk although if mum needs to be somewhere quickly or is juggling the other 2 children, shopping etc. he still uses a buggy. He is generally a very happy child but does like to be out and about and can get frustrated in the house, for example he likes going down to the station to watch the trains, or going to the park.
They would like to find someone who is happy to work closely with mum as a team. Sometimes they would be working together with all three children either at home or out on an excursion, e.g. the beach or a park, sometimes either the nanny might take their youngest to do something while mum focuses on her older two girls (e.g. take the youngest to the station while the girls are doing a craft project or playing quietly in the house) or vice-versa. Someone who is happy to lend a hand with some basic tidying, clearing and cooking simple meals would be really helpful. The family have a cleaner so are not expecting any heavy household cleaning, but clearing the breakfast things away wiping down counters and kitchen table, sweeping kitchen floor, hanging out some washing preparing some lunch or a preparing a simple evening meal (along the lines of spaghetti bolognaise etc). Ideally the successful candidate will have an authoritative parenting style which mum tries to use i.e. warm but firm with patience, humour and kindness.
They have a summer holiday booked at Seafield Caravan park in Northumberland 12th-19th July. Ideally they would like the successful candidate to go with them for at least part of this holiday. Accommodation would be a private room in the caravan.
A driver is not required but there is a car available for occasional use. There is free parking at the family home.
Non-smoker.
No pets.
