Job Reference: LCSFEB06
We are recruiting a warm and relaxed after school nanny for a friendly family who live in Inveresk, Musselburgh.
The family are ideally looking for a long term nanny but they are also open to a temporary arrangement.
They have two children ages 14 and 12 years.
Start date: 24 February 2026
Hourly rate: £18 per hour gross.
Term Time: 3pm to 7pm, 2 to 3 afternoons per week, Tuesdays and Thursdays are essential, Wednesday is optional. This will be in line with Loretto Private School.
School holidays: hours flexible and can be mutually agreed in advance.
Their oldest loves reading and computer games, while their youngest enjoys reading, fashion, music, and dance. They are both interested in cooking, therefore they would love a nanny who is happy to gently encourage this, whether that’s baking something simple, trying new recipes, or just chatting in the kitchen together.
As they’re now near to and in their teenage years, they value their independence and can sometimes retreat to their rooms, which is completely fine. What does matter is having a calm, approachable adult around: someone who can check in, offer support, share the occasional meal or board game, and build a natural, trusting relationship over time.
The role will include light tidying related to the children, after-school care in a relaxed home environment, helping everyone wind down after the school day, encouraging a balance of homework, downtime, and shared activities, preparing snacks and simple meals (often together). It may also include taking the children to after school activities or clubs.
They would love their nanny to genuinely enjoy working with teens. Someone warm, emotionally aware, and confident without being strict, happy to give space while staying present and supportive, reliable, organised, and easy to communicate with.
They are hoping to find someone who will feel comfortable in their home and become a trusted, positive presence for their children as they grow. If you’re someone who enjoys conversation, quiet companionship, and supporting teenagers in a low-key, respectful way, then the family would really love to hear from you.
A driver with their own car is required. There is free parking at the family home.
The parents may work from home at times, but in a different part of the house.
Please keep an eye on your junk mail for a response as it often goes here first time.
