๐ŸŒฟ Temporary Part-Time Nanny, Edinburgh EH12 5๐ŸŒฟ

Job Reference: LCSOCT02

We are recruiting a temporary Nanny to work with a lovely family who have recently moved to Edinburgh.

They have two children who will be 4 and 18 months at the start date.

Hourly rate: ยฃ16 per hour gross

Start date: 3 November 2026 (until at least April 2027)

Days and Hours: Either Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10am to 3pm or Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am to 3pm.

This will ideally include the school holidays, but they are open to discussing term time only with candidates.

They would also need one evening each week. The exact weeknight will be known well in advance. If their nanny is not available, they are happy to find a different babysitter.

They are a very close-knit family who have just moved to Edinburgh for Dad’s job. He will also still travel with his job. Mum is a stay-at-home mum and needs support with the children and time to do other things.

As a family they love walking, hiking, fishing, and being outdoors. They are extremely active and healthy. They are religious, Christian, love all people, and enjoy teaching their children about diversity, as they are a mixed-race family.

Childcare will mainly be for their youngest son while their oldest is at school. Their youngest is a sweet and active boy who loves reading books, playing with toys and kicking a ball. Due to having an older brother, he is quite advanced with his motor skills and loves climbing, rolling, and going down all the slides at parks: he will climb and play on everything. He is very sociable and really enjoys being with people. He is still developing his language but will let you know what he needs by pointing. They are encouraging his language through conversations, reading books and socialising. He loves eating and is always trying new foods. He loves to dance to music, and you will fall in love with his sweet smile and playfulness.

The move to Edinburgh has not been an easy one, moving away from their immediate families and support network. This will also be their first experience of having a nanny or have anyone out with their immediate family care for their children.

They therefore need a consistent and reliable nanny who is warm, loving, caring and who they can trust to be in their home to help with this transition and while in Edinburgh. A nanny who has great timekeeping, can follow the routines and support their youngest child’s development through play, music and movement.

The successful candidate must have a calm and loving disposition and be willing to be silly and playful with their son. Someone who loves outdoors and physical activities. There is lots of parks nearby to use. Safety is paramount as is giving him your full attention at home and while out and about. Communication is also super important to the family, keeping in contact with Mum and Dad about their childโ€™s day and being open about concerns or needs, while respecting their parenting preferences.

Must be willing to cook for the children and be confident in supporting sleep routines, specifically nap times.

A non-smoker and non-vaper is required.

A driver is not required but there is free parking at the family home.

Mum will be around/in and out of the house so the successful candidate must be comfortable with this.
