Permanent Nanny/Housekeeper, Edinburgh EH3 6 20 hours per week (flexible)

We are looking for a warm, reliable and proactive person to support a centrally-located Edinburgh family with the demands of daily life.

This 20-hour per week role is primarily about relieving the load of “life admin”, helping maintain a calm, organised home, and offering some childcare, particularly for a new born. The hours are flexible over 4 days.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is organised, nurturing, and enjoys contributing to a peaceful home environment, including caring for a small, hypoallergenic friendly dog.

Hourly rate is £15-£18 per hour gross depending on experience.

Start date is mid October 2025 for a trial period.

Key Objectives:

  • Free up the mother’s time and energy by handling everyday logistics and practical tasks
  • Support with light newborn care (non-medical, age-appropriate help)
  • Keep the household running smoothly with excellent organisational systems
  • Bring warmth, calm, and reliability to the family routine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grocery shopping and running errands
  • Organising household tasks and systems (to-do lists, schedules, reminders, etc.)
  • Light meal prep and simple batch cooking
  • Managing online orders, returns, and household supplies
  • Keeping living spaces tidy and functional (light housekeeping only)
  • Laundry and ironing
  • Managing family calendar, coordinating commitments, and organising gifts/cards for special occasions
  • Walking and feeding the family’s small dog
  • Supporting mum with newborn routines (e.g., holding or watching baby while mum showers or rests)
  • Helping with nursery/child-related admin (e.g., clothing organisation, researching classes)
  • Booking appointments, calendar management, and occasional phone calls/emails.

What the are looking for:

Highly organised with a love for lists, structure, and home systems; naturally proactive and able to “see what needs doing” without being micromanaged; calm, kind, and emotionally intelligent; comfortable around and experienced with babies (you won’t be responsible for sole care, but experience is appreciated); trustworthy and discreet; comfortable with dogs and light pet care; tech-savvy (calendars, online orders, reminders); Bonus: Child/baby first aid certification.

A driver with own car is preferred but there is no free parking at the family home.

Must be a non-smoker and non-vaper
