We are looking for Personal Assistant/experienced ASN nanny to support a family in Edinburgh EH13 0 on a Saturday OR Sunday each week for four hours.
The hourly rate is £20 per hour.
Start date is ASAP.
This lovely family are looking for 1:1 care for their 6 year old son who has disabilities. This is for four hours per week either a Saturday or Sunday. They are flexible with when these hours take place over the weekend, and also open to the possibility of sometimes using the four hours on a Friday afternoon. The are open to flexibility of changing days depending on availability, especially over the school holiday periods.
Funding is in place until June 2026. It is expected that this will continue on a yearly rolling basis so ideally someone who can stay with them long term, however they will consider someone until June 2026.
Their son is a happy and lovely 6 year old who requires significant 1:1 support. He is in his second year at Braidburn School and does enjoy it, however this does tire him out so his parents try and keep his weekends a bit slower. He is intellectually disabled, which affects all aspects of his development and his care needs. He is very small and light for his age (around 14.5kg at last weight check).
With consistent and gentle care, he is an absolute joy to be around with a smile that will brighten up anyone’s day. He loves company and once he gets to know and trust an adult, he builds a really beautiful bond with them. He loves people watching, going for a walk in his buggy, short trips on the bus or in the car and he enjoys playing in the garden. He likes passing toys to people and playing peekaboo and is always looking for a big cuddle. He likes music and enjoys his food, even enjoying a wee trip to Costa for a babychino or a wee walk round Tesco. He thrives on routine and consistency and his home is his safe space.
While their son has complex needs, the main quality his parents are looking for is someone who can be vigilant at being his eyes and ears and acting on his behalf to keep him safe. As long as he is safe and feels safe, he is a fairly content wee boy who gives back so much love to the people who are in his life. First aid training would be reassuring.
The parents will be on hand to give a full support at showing how they look after their son and what his likes and dislikes are, and they are happy to be caring alongside the successful candidate for a good amount of time until everyone feels comfortable. There may also be occasions when everyone can go out all together and this would help the parents have an extra pair of eyes and hands on while also looking after their other children. They are very happy to slowly build up to getting to know each other and making sure their son and the person looking after him feels confident and safe.
They are looking for a non-smoker.
No pets.
Driver is not required and there is free parking at the family home.
