We are recruiting a temporary summer holiday nanny on behalf of a family who live in the Colinton area of Edinburgh.
They have two children who will be 3 (G) and nearly 5 (B) years old.
The weeks are are:
6 July 2026: oldest only – two days out of Mon, Tues, Thurs
13 July 2026: oldest only – two days out of Mon, Tues, Thurs
27 July 2026: both children – two or three days (not Thurs 28th)
3 August 2026: both children – two or three days (any)
10 August 2026: oldest only – two days out of Mon, Tues, Thurs
17 August 2026: oldest only – two days out of Mon, Tues, Thurs
24 August 2026: oldest only – two days out of Mon, Tues, Thurs
These are all the times that they would ideally like childcare. However, it is not essential that they have the entirety of this covered, so if you can only cover part of this or half days and otherwise meet the criteria, then please do get in touch.
They are both very active children and love being outdoors. Oldest is a high energy child and would do best with someone who can be very active with him. They have a large garden with plenty of room to play, and there is a playpark (at Spylaw Park) within walking distance. Oldest in particular really benefits from having active play and outdoor time in his day. They both love playing with their toys (oldest – vehicles; youngest – a range of toys, including vehicles, but also stacking toys, dolls, animals, puzzles etc.). They both love books and songs, and youngest in particular loves dancing, learning the actions etc. They both enjoy art but youngest particularly loves it and will do it for longer. Oldest is very good at playing independently but he also has a low tolerance for boredom. He’s not the sort of child who will potter about with his own toys for the entire day.
Outdoors, they love their sandpit, bikes and scooters, and running fast and chasing each other. Youngest likes throwing games, football and so on. Oldest likes hide and seek, looking for bugs and learning about the outdoors. They both love climbing, jumping and running.
They are looking for a nanny who is energetic, enthusiastic, good at coming up with fun and varied activities. They will respond really well to someone who can be a bit silly.
They live on a busy road, but have secure electric gates on the driveway. They have a few guidelines around storage of the key fobs for the gate (e.g. never keep a fob in your pocket, put it in the cupboard immediately when returning home) so that no one accidentally presses the button to open the gates while the children are playing in the garden. But as the parents will be working from home, they will be able to open and close the gates when required so the nanny likely won’t need to use the key fob.
They don’t need a driver but if you do need or want to use your car mileage will be paid for any excursions. You must have business insurance on your vehicle.
There is free parking at their home.
Prefer a non smoker and non vaper.
Both parents will be working from home.
They have a spaniel but parents will keep her upstairs with them.
Hourly rate is between £15-£16 per hour plus holiday pay, depending on experience.
