Their two teens are very independent with entertaining themselves, going out with friends etc, but also enjoy going with their siblings to the park etc. Their oldest recently received an autism diagnosis, this affects her socially, she does not require any additional support. They are both recognised as Young Carers.
Their 9 year old is autistic and non-verbal, he requires support with cleanliness after toileting- washing hands and wiping bottom after bowel movements. He communicates quite well with pointing and taking a care givers hand. He requires support to get snacks and drinks safely. He needs supervision outside, hand holding and eyes-on, he isnโt able to play outdoors independently. He enjoys time on his tablet and playing with toy animals. He has a safety gate on his bedroom door to create a quiet calm sanctuary away from siblings. He can operate the gate himself to access the toilet. He can go to the park and shop with his older sisters.
Their 8 year old is autistic and non-verbal too, but has fewer support needs. He needs verbal reminders to wash his hands but can do so independently, for bowel movements he needs assistance to fold toilet paper and take wipes from packets, but can wipe himself with encouragement. He can type out requests and make very clear his wishes, he can also hum to communicate or thumbs up/thumbs down. He is very intelligent and talented with gaming. He can fetch himself snacks and drinks without issue. He can ride his bike and play independently outside with just some ground rules (donโt leave the street, donโt enter houses or gardens). He can go to the park and shop with his older sisters.
Their youngest is very much a typical 5yr old, enjoys movies, tv, snacks, the park, her scooter and playing with friends and brother outside. She is allowed to play within the street, or beyond the street if she is accompanied by her older sisters.
They describe themselves as a very close family, enjoy doing things together and having fun. Trips to the park, Deer centre, beach or road trips to Edinburgh and caravan holidays. At home they watch movies, YouTube, play kinetic sand, Lego, playdough and baking. They all game together on Minecraft and Roblox. They donโt have screen time restrictions beyond no screens in bedrooms at night.
They are ideally looking for a driver with own car but this is not essential. However the public transport around Ladybank is not great. There is free parking at the family home.
They would like a nanny who is calm, easy going and who will follow the children’s lead in terms of their interests and development. Experience with additional support needs if possible.
They have two house cats.
The parents may sometimes study at home.
