🌿 Permanent Wednesday Nanny, Term Time, Bonnyrigg, Midlothian EH19 3 🌿

Job Reference: LCSSEPT02

We are recruiting a permanent nanny for a lovely family who live in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian. This is for a Wednesday only during term time but the family are also open to offering more hours during school holidays.

They currently have two children ages 4 years and 14 months: care will be for their youngest during term time.

Hourly rate: £17 per hour gross

Days and hours: Wednesdays 8.30am to 4pm

Start Date: ASAP

Their youngest is a joyful, fun little girl who loves playful interactions, dancing, exploring, watching and copying what the rest of the family does. She loves exploring the garden and is often found playing in water with her older brother.
She likes to be helpful and sometimes wants to put clothes away or help load/unload the dishwasher. She loves the Toniebox and likes listening to music. She also recently learned to work zips and is unzipping every zip she can find. The only concern her parents have at the moment is that she is observing a lot of her brother’s behaviours. He is 4, non-verbal and his parents are in the process of getting his autism & ADHD diagnosis. They have noticed their daughter copying some of his regulation methods. She has also become more particular with food as she can see him regularly getting the same “safe foods” whilst they try to get her to have a variety of foods.

As a family, they love quality time together, which is very important to them. They like to go walking in the woods and down to Dalkeith Country Park. They love swimming and go as a family a few times per week.
Positive words and affirmations are important in their home and they generally try to avoid any negativity or speaking to the children in frustrated ways. This is especially important for their son who is often triggered and upset by raised voices or perceived anger. They embrace mess and chaos, it’s a part of family life and want their children to feel free to explore, make mess, get grass stains, and have a “spills happen” attitude where they just clean it up.

This is the family’s first experience of at-home childcare so they are understandably somewhat apprehensive about inviting a new person into their busy and chaotic family life. They would therefore appreciate a nanny who is reliable, warm and nurturing, patient, calm, punctual, attentive and observant, trustworthy, flexible and adaptable. Someone who will be respectful of their parenting style and wishes for their children.

The successful candidate should have or be willing to attend first aid training, be able to demonstrate their experience with babies/toddlers, have an awareness of safeguarding and understand child safety. They should be able to demonstrate effective and clear communication so that they can share information about how their daughter’s day has been. A knowledge of toddler developmental goals and age appropriate games and activities. A non smoker.

Ultimately they are looking for a nanny who will provide a safe, stimulating and loving environment, support their daughter’s routine and development and who can be a trusted part of their family life.

A driver with their own car is preferable but not essential. They may be able to provide access to the family car. There is free parking at the family home.

The parents occasionally work from home, but not often. When working from home, they keep themselves away from the main family areas so as not to disturb their youngest.
