We are recruiting a permanent, part time Mothers Help/Nanny to work with a lovely family from Musselburgh, East Lothian.

At the start date they will have three children who will be 6, 3 years and a new born baby.

Start Date: 1st February 2027

Hourly rate: ยฃ15-ยฃ18 per hour gross depending on experience.

Days and Hours: Monday Tuesday & Wednesday mornings: 7.30am โ€“ 10.30am AND Monday & Tuesday: 5pm โ€“ 7.30pm

This is term time only in line with East Lothian school holiday dates but the family are open to offering additional hours in school holidays if the successful candidate would like more hours.

Their oldest son is football obsessed and loves nothing more than playing in the garden kicking a ball around. He is a great reader and also loves word games, puzzles and board games. His younger brother is really into imaginative play. He loves fire engines and paw patrol characters, reading books and listening to made-up stories. He also loves dressing up and of course playing with his big brother.

They are very family orientated. The parents encourage the boys to be active, with weekends involving swimming, playing football and tennis class. They also like to go to cafes together for pastries, hang out with family and friends, watch the football both in person and at home, cosy movie nights, baking, board games and reading books together every day.

They are looking for a motherโ€™s help type role, at least initially. Dad works in London every week Monday to Wednesday therefore Mum is looking for support in getting the children up and ready for school/nursery each day so everyone is clean, fed and dressed or simply to care for the baby whilst Mum helps the boys. In addition to this any support to empty the dishwasher, wipe round the sides, pop toys away to support. Similarly in the evenings Mum is looking for support with getting the children fed and ready for bed.

The successful candidate should be warm, nurturing and genuinely enjoy spending time with young children. They should be reliable, trustworthy, organised and proactive, with plenty of initiative and a practical, hands-on approach to helping family life run smoothly. Someone who is confident caring for children of different ages, patient, fun and happy to get involved with play, activities and day-to-day routines. Good communication, flexibility and a positive attitude are also important as is someone who can anticipate what needs doing and be comfortable working independently. Previous experience with young children, a good understanding of child safety and development, and a calm, sensible approach are essential.

A non-smoker and non-vaper is required.

A driver with their own car is preferable but not essential. There is free parking at the family home.
