After School and Holiday Nanny, Grange, Edinburgh EH9 1

Job ref: LCSJULY01

This lovely, flexible family are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and caring nanny for their two children age 8 and 4 years.

The start date is Monday 2nd September 2024. This job will be until the end of June 2025 but may be extended if both parties wish to do so.

The hourly rate is £16 per hour gross.

The family can be flexible about the days and times, requiring 12-16 hours of childcare per week after school, during school term time. For example, a 12-hour week could be 3 hours, 4 days a week, Monday-Thursday, 3pm to 6pm. A 16-hour week could be 5 days Monday-Thursday 3pm to 6pm and a Friday 12 noon to 4pm. The family are happy to come up with a schedule that works for the right nanny.

During school holidays they will require full days, but again can be flexible about days/times which can all be discussed with the nanny. Their nanny will not be required for one week during school Easter and Christmas holidays and will be required to take annual leave at this time.

The children are friendly and used to being cared for by a nanny. They enjoy playing, craft activities, and reading. Their oldest child is fairly independent, but still needs supervision and support to get home and with completing homework. He can be shy, but once he gets to know someone enjoys chatting and playing, especially football in the garden. He loves Lego and is passionate about Transformers and Star Wars, and tends to spend a certain amount of time playing in his bedroom. Their youngest is playful, active and affectionate. She loves dressing up, dolls and soft toys, painting and learning activities, she also enjoys cuddles and reading in bed. She can be quite strong-willed and is still learning to manage her emotions, so the nanny needs to be patient, willing and able to work with her when she struggles with this.

Both children attend the same school / nursery, about a 15-minute walk from the house. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting the children, bringing them home, taking them to after school activities, giving them a snack, playing and caring for them and preparing their dinner. They should be reliable, patient, kind and attentive to the children. Ideally someone who is proactive and playful, and willing to support the children with learning where needed.

The family are happy for the nanny to be a student, but they must have childcare experience with children of a similar age. Non-smoker.

A driver is not required but there is free parking at the family home.

One or both parents will often be working at home.
