Job Reference: LCSMAY09
We are recruiting a permanent nanny on behalf of a welcoming family who have moved from overseas to the Marchmont area of Edinburgh. They have two children ages 7 and nearly 8 months.
Start date is ideally early June 2025 but definitely by 30th June.
The hourly rate – £16 per hour gross.
Days and Hours: Mondays 10am to 4pm, Tuesdays 9am to 4pm and Thursdays 9am to 4pm (20 hours per week). They would also love their nanny to be able to babysit a couple times a month to allow them to have a date night. Mum will travel a couple times a year and during that time they would also need increased hours to cover children’s care while Dad is at the office.
Their oldest will need picked up after school and maybe time to play at the park. She is interested in Jiu Jitsu and has recently taken an interest in baking and cooking. Her parents are currently teaching her safe kitchen basics so she can work on cooking independently. She has quite an imagination and loves to create; she would happily do crafts all day, every day. She has a tender heart and cares deeply so she needs a safe space to talk through feelings especially since they’ve made such a big life change relocating to Scotland. She can be quite sensitive to criticism or feedback therefore her parents have been working on her confidence and making sure she understands that mistakes are how we learn and grow.
Their baby is a happy boy and loves to be held, although he is close to learning to crawl, so will be on the move shortly. He thinks his sister is the funniest person in the world and loves to watch her play, go on walks to see new things, people and doggies. He has started the weaning process and is breastfed. The nanny will be involved in both weaning and supporting him to transition to drinking breastmilk from a cup. Mum works from home so is happy to breastfeed him and pass him to his nanny to put him down for naps.
The successful nanny will be creative and playful to make learning fun, fostering age appropriate independence for the children. Their oldest loves to explore and research and is quite inquisitive so they would love a nanny who will continue to let that part of her flourish. Someone who is nurturing and responsive, who can step in and be supportive when mums attention needs to be focused on work. Mum is a hands-on parent and as their son is still a baby there may be times that she will need to respond to him and will need support from the nanny in other ways like other child care related tasks such as the children’s laundry, bedding, and preparing the children’s meals. The family will occasionally travel to Madrid to visit family, so a Spanish speaking nanny that can help the children learn Spanish would be a huge plus.
Non smoker and non vaper.
A driver is not required and there is no free parking at the family home.
No pets.
Mum works from home. It is anticipated that this role will start more as a mother’s help/nanny role while the nanny settles in with the children then will move to a sole care nanny role.
