We are recruiting a permanent after school nanny for a family who live in Duddingston, near Portobello. They have two children ages 5 and 3 years but the main care will be for their oldest child who is starting school.
This is a long term position which will eventually include collecting both children from the same school in two years time.
Hourly rate: £18 per hour gross minimum
Start Date: August 2026 – the family need their nanny to start on the first day of the school term with the flexibility to offer some settling in sessions prior to this.
Days and Hours: Mondays to Thursdays 2.45pm to 6pm. Hours are negotiable, as is discussing holiday cover.
The family would also consider 2pm/2.30pm start time and a later finish if their nanny is happy to assist with nursery collection for their youngest child from a nursery in Stockbridge (optional).
This is a term time role in line with the City of Edinburgh Council school term. However the family would love the possibility of their nanny working some hours during school holidays.
They are a family of 4 plus their gorgeous 9 year old placid Labrador so their nanny must like dogs.
Dad works from home but is out of the way in the garden and would not be in the house unless there was an emergency. Mum does not work at home. Their son will attend a nursery in Stockbridge from August 2026 therefore primary care during term time will only be for their daughter. This will involve collecting her from school and providing after school care and activities. She is a very intelligent girl who is looking forward to starting school although her parents suspect that she may struggle with this next phase as she is very shy. However, she attends classes and clubs and is very sociable.
Both children love being outdoors, crafts and playing games.
The parents would like to find someone who is reliable, proactive, friendly with ideas of how to help their daughter decompress after a new school day. Someone who will join in her play and help her to have fun with after school activities.
Non smoker is essential.
Dad has a peanut allergy so it is a peanut free house.
A driver with own car would be preferred but not essential. There is free parking at the family home.
